21.08.2025 12:06Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod has proposed transferring the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that remain under Ukrainian control to Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
She registered the corresponding draft resolution in the Verkhovna Rada.
In particular, it is proposed that Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka, Chasiv Yar, Lyman, and Siversk be transferred to Kharkiv region, while Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Myrnohrad would be transferred to Dnipropetrovsk region.
“First, we must act solely in the interests of our people and guarantee them that these territories will remain Ukrainian. Second, maintaining the Luhansk and Donetsk regional administrations costs the state more than 50 million hryvnias every month. These are irrational expenses, since their functions can be effectively carried out by Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions,” Skorokhod explained.
It should be recalled that Moscow has demanded that Kyiv cede all of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a condition for peace. Apparently, this initiative is aimed at preventing the surrender of these territories.
It should be noted that administrative boundaries of the regions are regulated by the Verkhovna Rada.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Russia has proposed the surrender of territories in exchange for ending the war.
