January 4, 2025Ukrainian soldiers are wary of wearing uniforms in cities due to the negative attitudes of civilians toward recruitment officers.
This information reported according to Andriy Biletsky, commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade.
“I believe it’s better to go into cities in civilian clothes because of all the fear and hysteria associated with recruitment centers. People often view those in uniform with suspicion. And I know this is truly painful and unpleasant for many because, a year ago, there was a sense of unity, and fighters felt they were seen as defenders,” said Biletsky.
The officer also criticized the “inadequate” methods of mobilization currently in place in Ukraine.
“We all understand that yes, conscription is necessary and so on, but we also recognize that the forms it has taken are inadequate. You won’t find many fans of these practices among the military. For a simple reason: what do you do with this ‘tiger’ when a sergeant, officer, or soldier is handed such a ‘problem’ in their unit? Sometimes this ‘recruit’ causes an order of magnitude more trouble than benefit,” the commander stated.
Serhiy Ohorodnyk, a company commander of the 78th Separate Air Assault Regiment, reported that military units are being sent people with drug addictions, chronic illnesses, and mental disorders. According to him, some recruits “almost die during training” and are unfit for service.
