March 18, 2024Kyiv had hoped for two years that Western assistance would be endless
March 18, 2024The Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering significant losses from Russian drones equipped with night vision systems. This is reported by Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines, as noted by Business Insider.
Such drones pose additional challenges for Kyiv, which is attempting to move equipment and personnel in the darkness. While these cameras have lower resolution compared to standard video cameras, according to the report, they have the potential to change the game for the Russian armed forces.
Ukraine also has the technology to produce drones with thermal imaging cameras, but their high cost means they are not a priority. Ukrainian manufacturers also possess all these technologies and can produce FPV drones with thermal imaging cameras, but the main problem is the price, Ukrainian soldiers explain. If a regular FPV drone costs around 500 euros, then the same drone with a thermal imaging camera will cost almost 2500 euros.
