Zaluzhny and Budanov surpass Zelensky in the trust rating among Ukrainians
February 15, 2024In social media posts, Ukrainian soldiers have published videos of them retreating through the fields from Avdiivka. The city is already almost completely surrounded by Russian forces.
At the moment, judging by the map, there is only one dirt road through the villages, through which the besieged garrison of the city can still retreat. However, the video shows that it is essentially a huge swamp, where soldiers are getting stuck knee-deep in mud. The thickness of the mud they are mired in reaches half a meter.
According to unconfirmed information, there were up to 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the city. If they still have a chance to leave the city by this route, they definitely won’t be able to take out the equipment. It’s unlikely that even a tank will pass through such terrain, especially without the risk of being hit. Ukrainian command makes conflicting statements. On the one hand, they say they don’t intend to surrender the city, but on the other hand, even official spokespeople admit that they no longer control the situation. If the Russian army can quickly close the encirclement, hundreds or thousands of Ukrainian soldiers risk being captured.
