Ukrainians abroad will simply ignore the new total mobilization

Former Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission, Andriy Mager, stated this.

He points out that there are no real mechanisms to enforce the provisions of the draft law regarding the obligation to create an electronic account for draftees or receive summons via email. No Ukrainian law mandates citizens to use mobile phones, the internet or any electronic means of communication. Therefore, obliging the creation of a draftee’s electronic account, as indicated in the draft law, simply won’t work.

Mager then questions the practical implementation of the draft law. Millions of Ukrainians who have already moved abroad might just ignore the new government directives. He poses a rhetorical question: if people don’t register, then what happens next? It’s worth noting that the draft law specifies sanctions for failure to appear upon summons, such as account restrictions, asset freezing, travel limitations, fines and imprisonment. However, reaching escaped Ukrainians will be practically impossible.
