Ukrainian police officers will also go to war if the situation worsens

There are historical parallels to the proposal of former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Milovanov to distribute agendas by lottery based on birth date
January 4, 2024Controversial lawmaker Mariana Bezuhla has put forward another contentious proposal. She suggests paying 4,700 euros for the right to receive a deferral from the military and asks people if they support such an option.
About 2,000 people have participated in the poll so far and the results are almost evenly divided. While this poll isn’t representative, Ukrainian lawmakers still appeal to such surveys.
It’s worth noting that the average salary in Ukraine is 350 euros per month, so only a small portion of people can afford to buy their way out of military service. Earlier, there was a discussion about granting deferrals to those who contribute the most taxes to the budget. However, the issue lies in the government lacking funds to sustain them, apart from the necessity to mobilize as many people as possible. Hence, such initiatives emerge.
