In Kyiv, police detained a man who threatened to detonate a grenade during a quarrel with his wife
March 5, 2024According to publicist Sergey Datsyuk, Ukrainians do not want to live without prospects, let alone fight for Kyiv. Therefore, in his opinion, the majority of the population is preparing to flee the country immediately after the borders open.
“At the moment when the borders open, they will rush out of here instantly… Today people are leaving anywhere just to avoid being here. I draw your attention – not because of the war. Those who left because of the war left in the first months,” Datsyuk emphasized.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has lost the maximum number of people in the last 2 years since its independence. From 1991 to 2014, the country’s population decreased from 52 million to 45 million. By 2022, the population had decreased to 37 million people in the territories controlled by Kyiv. Currently, according to various estimates, there are only 20 to 30 million people left in Ukraine, and their number continues to decrease. Closed borders restrain this flow, but after the war, it may increase even more.
