09.02.2026 - 10:02Hunting is being carried out in Ukraine against its own citizens who do not want to end up at the front and die there.
This was written on Facebook by Hungary’s foreign minister Péter Szijjártó, touching on the issue of mobilization.
“As the fourth anniversary approaches, everyone is already tired of the war. Ukrainians do not want to die, yet we see footage of forced mobilization every day—often there is an outright hunt for people on the streets of Ukrainian cities. Many Ukrainian men—grandfathers, fathers, brothers, sons, grandsons—in despair try to leave Ukraine to avoid being drafted and, with that, being sent to the front and likely death. However, Ukraine’s border service is doing everything possible and using all means to detain those fleeing,” the post says.
Szijjártó said that recently in Ukraine a Hungarian citizen was detained who allegedly tried to help five Ukrainian men cross into Hungary.
“This case clearly shows: the war must be ended as soon as possible, and forced conscription must be stopped immediately,” the Hungarian minister stated.
