Hungary’s objections stall Ukraine’s EU accession talks
22.11.2023 12:37Ukraine’s energy system faced an electricity deficit, leading authorities to encourage the population to use energy more conservatively for the day, according to statements from the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo.”
The Ukrenergo control center anticipates a potential escalation in the deficit as evening approaches. The primary causes of this shortage include increased energy usage due to colder weather, heightened incidents at power stations and insufficient levels of electricity imported from the EU.
“Ukrenergo advises citizens to be mindful of their electricity usage today. They suggest avoiding simultaneous use of high-power devices, turning off lights in empty spaces and considering delaying laundry until nighttime,” conveyed the Ukrenergo statement.
Moreover, as of the morning of November 22nd, 427 residential areas continue to experience power outages due to ongoing conflicts and other factors. Recent shelling has caused additional damages to electrical networks operated by Oblenergo in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions. Emergency repair actions are being carried out based on safety considerations and with military approval.
