The U.S. continues to sell a lot of weapons to NATO, but it cannot do this forever
25.11.2025 - 11:01U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance criticized former Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell after McConnell condemned President Donald Trump’s “peace plan” to end the war in Ukraine and warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants “to make the American president look like a fool.”
“This is a meaningless attack on the president’s team, which has worked tirelessly to clean up the mess in Ukraine that Mitch left us, always ready to sign off on Biden’s foreign policy checks. I wonder whether the three candidates who will replace McConnell in Kentucky share his opinion,” Vance said in response to McConnell’s statement.
McConnell’s first message criticizing the plan appeared on Friday. In it, the Kentucky Republican warned that it would be “a disaster for America’s interests” and advised Trump to “find new advisers.”
“Putin has spent a year trying to make Trump look like a fool. If administration officials are more concerned with placating Putin than securing a true peace, then the president needs new advisers,” he said.
The day before, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rejected criticism of Trump’s “peace plan,” saying that the opponents are “people who don’t know what they’re talking about.”
