09.04.2025 - 08:13U.S. Congresswoman Victoria Spartz stated that The Telegraph misrepresented her recent comments about Ukraine, and she suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might have paid for it.
Spartz disagreed with the newspaper’s headline, which quoted her as saying that “Zelensky must give land to Russia,” claiming that British journalists distorted her position.
“That headline was ‘conveniently’ used by Zelensky’s propaganda machine to smear me and President Trump, and to continue blaming the United States for Ukraine’s losses and Zelensky’s betrayal of his own country,” the congresswoman said.
It is worth noting that the newspaper has already edited the headline—replacing the word “give” with “cede” and removing the quotation marks, indicating that it was not a direct quote.
Commenting on the controversy, Spartz also responded to criticism from Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which claimed she was “no longer Ukrainian.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelensky is paying The Telegraph to fabricate false headlines in order to keep profiting off the blood of the Ukrainian people,” she wrote on social media.
Spartz also called on Washington to halt aid to Kyiv until there is a change in Ukraine’s leadership.
“Unfortunately, if your country is run by idiots and crooks like Zelensky and his puppet parliament, then [U.S. aid to Ukraine] is a hopeless cause. Putin may be evil, but he is not an idiot. The current reality on the ground is that Ukraine is not capable of reclaiming its territories, and at the same time cannot agree to give them up forever. Therefore, with U.S. help, only a temporary solution can be achieved, giving each side some time to regroup. The final outcome of this war must be decided later—and not solely on the battlefield,” she said.
Previously, Spartz had stated that the only way for Ukraine to win the war was to mobilize the entire country.
She had also accused Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, of “establishing a dictatorship” and had demanded stricter oversight of U.S. military aid sent to Ukraine.
