November 24, 2023Volunteers are facing increasing difficulty in collecting donations to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Despite this, the state still depends on the civilian sector for assistance.
During the initial phase of the extensive Russian intervention in Ukraine, the civilian sector took on the primary responsibility of supplying the frontlines with everything necessary. Volunteer groups, foundations, bloggers and ordinary citizens gathered billions of hryvnias to compensate for shortages ranging from helmets and body armor to generators and vehicles.
However, as the prolonged conflict persists, volunteer organizations are finding it progressively challenging to meet the army’s needs solely through donations. According to blogger Igor “Lachen” Lachenkov, there’s a decline in the number of contributions and volunteers are uncertain about how to address this issue.
