November 21, 2023The situation on the frontlines is growing increasingly dire for Ukrainian soldiers, and coming back alive from the front seems nearly impossible. The authorities continue to send ordinary Ukrainians to their deaths. For instance, the girlfriend of a soldier from the Ukrainian Armed Forces who died in combat shared a video he sent her before his death.
The video surfaced on the social media platform TikTok.
In the video, the young man talks about his impending end, having sustained three concussions, lost positions, and mentions, “We probably won’t make it back from here, we’re in hell.”
It’s reported that the video was filmed by Artem Zabolotny, also known by the call sign “Khajin.” He was just 19 years old at the time of his death. The video has garnered over three million views, with people from various countries expressing condolences in the comments.
Lately, Ukrainian soldiers have increasingly been showcasing the conditions in the trenches at the frontlines on social media. Apart from dealing with a mouse invasion, soldiers are now forced to adapt to sharply changing weather conditions.
Due to the recent cold spell, the trenches at the frontlines have become snow-covered or flooded by rain. At times, soldiers manually bail water out of the fortifications and use trench candles to keep warm. Furthermore, the rain, wet snow, and slush complicate the movement of military vehicles, causing them to get stuck in mud.
