‘Get out of here’: the online community in X lashes out at Zelenskyy for coming to the United States
September 19, 2023Ukraine is not ready to join NATO – Politico says
September 19, 2023In the West, the media openly state that the liberation of several villages cannot be considered a successful counteroffensive, and Ukraine may have only a few days left before an ultimate failure.
Ukraine and its allies, including the United States, may have placed too much hope on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive, as reported by The New York Times.
“Ukraine is fighting one of the world’s most powerful armies. Even if Ukraine manages to force Russia to significantly retreat, it will likely take years, not months,” the article states, analyzing the counteroffensive.
“The current achievements of Ukraine, manifested in the liberation of several villages, are aimed at achieving a major breakthrough – ‘although it may never happen.'”
Meanwhile, time is running out as “autumn will bring rain, making the terrain muddier and harder to navigate, which is likely to hinder significant battlefield successes.”
At the same time, Russian forces have intensified attacks in the northeast in the hope of regaining some of the territory they lost last year and forcing Ukraine to redirect its forces to the northeast.
“If enough Ukrainian forces are moved from the southeast front, the last major leap of the counteroffensive may fail,” the article concludes.
