Kicked in the head: a group of civilians brutally beat a soldier in Ivano-Frankivsk
11.09.2024 22:08In Hlukhiv, Sumy region, residents held a protest against the announced mandatory evacuation.
This was reported by the publication Hlukhiv.info.
Some of the protesters stated that the authorities had not provided guarantees that after the evacuation they would be provided with housing and means to live, so they could support their families. Others simply do not want to leave their homes.
The mayor, Nadiya Vaylo, came out to speak with the protesters. The citizens told the mayor that, in their opinion, the decision to evacuate the 30,000-strong city was made “without solid justification and contrary to common sense. Moreover, Hlukhiv is not a territory of active hostilities.”
“Where will they house 30,000 people? And who will find them jobs, schools, and kindergartens? Every city resident loses a lot, receiving only the words ‘Hang in there’ in return! And that’s in the best case, because who and where is waiting for these evacuees?” said protester Viktor Verchenko.
The mayor responded that residents could sign a refusal to evacuate, and the authorities are allocating funds for the defense of the city.
Earlier, media outlets reported that in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, where the front lines are approaching, tens of thousands of residents remain. Mandatory evacuation of children was announced in two districts.
