Both military and civilian Ukrainians are extremely tired of the war
01.02.2024 10:41Due to delays in assistance from allies, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are running short of ammunition for artillery and air defense. Meanwhile, crucial aid from Europe and the US is being delayed due to political disputes.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to informed sources, this week Zelensky tried — albeit unsuccessfully — to remove General Valeriy Zaluzhny from his position as Chief Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Zelensky is seeking a more aggressive approach to the conflict after last year’s failed counteroffensive and seems to be in conflict with the more restrained views of his general.
Currently, to maintain so-called active defense, Kyiv needs stable supplies of artillery shells and other ammunition, which allies are striving to provide.
However, according to diplomats, European allies will not be able to fulfill the promise to supply Kyiv with a million shells by March 1. Against the backdrop of constant production delays and concerns about the depletion of Western arsenals by this deadline, the Ukrainian side will receive only about 600,000 shells within a year.
Ukrainian officials publicly state that they will continue to fight Russian forces even without support from allies. However, reports from the frontlines indicate that the situation there is becoming increasingly dire.
