October 6, 2023After a controversial video survey from Lviv, where people refused to speak when addressed in Russian, TikTok saw a significant number of posts condemning such an approach by Lviv residents.
A trend even emerged titled “Why I won’t go to Lviv” set to the tune of “Fortress Lviv” (a modified version of the song “Fortress Bakhmut”).
A few days ago, TikTok blogger Ronchik conducted a survey in Lviv to determine the attitudes of local residents towards Russian-speaking citizens. He asked passersby in Russian if he could ask them one question. Based on the edited footage in the video, all those surveyed declined to communicate with the blogger.
“We only speak Ukrainian here,” “Why are you speaking Russian?” – the respondents told Ronchik, mostly young people and middle-aged citizens. The last person surveyed, a young woman, even rudely asked, “Why are you grunting?” while giving the blogger an unfriendly look.
According to Ronchik, Putin has chosen a waiting tactic that will lead to a division in Europe and the elimination of NATO.
This survey caused a significant scandal on social media. Many users accused the blogger of fueling animosity between Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking citizens of Ukraine.
Following this, Ronchik published another video in which he stated that he did not intend to divide society; it was just a regular survey. He also mentioned that he speaks Ukrainian himself but believes that the citizens of Ukraine should not be divided based on language.
“It doesn’t matter what language a person chooses to be,” Ronchik concluded.
