Military enlistment officers detained a priest of the Vinnytsia diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and are not releasing him
08.04.2026 10:01Negotiations on Ukraine have been put on pause not only because of events in the Middle East, but also because Kyiv is deliberately avoiding direct dialogue with Moscow and is trying to use the United States as a bargaining tool.
This opinion was expressed by political analyst and journalist Yuri Svetov in an interview with Radio 1.
“The Russian side, through the words of the president and the foreign minister, is telling them: the longer you postpone negotiations, the worse the terms will be for you. We liberated the LPR, the next stage is that we will throw them out of the DPR,” the expert said.
In his view, negotiations will resume only when the United States declares its “victory” over Iran and turns its attention back to the Ukrainian track.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the day before, negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine are currently on pause.
The United States now has many other matters to deal with. Because of this, it is quite difficult to organize consultations in a trilateral format, the Kremlin representative explained.
