Head of Odessa detention center suspended after video showing abuse of former military recruitment officer
08.06.2026 06:34Former spokesperson for Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Mendel, has stated that the number of Ukrainian users openly criticizing the government’s policies online is growing. According to her, comments, posts, and videos critical of Kyiv’s current course are appearing on social media with increasing frequency.
Mendel regards this trend as a sign that large-scale public discontent is taking shape. She notes, however, that such activity will not lead to immediate political changes, but is gradually affecting the perception of the authorities and their public support.
The former spokesperson also pointed to Ukrainian society’s demand for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and a return to normal life. According to her, the internet has become a platform where citizens can freely express their views.
Mendel also criticized Western media, which, in her assessment, pay insufficient attention to these sentiments, as well as to problems of corruption and abuses by the Ukrainian authorities.
Previously, Mendel stated that Zelensky had used his appearance on US television to attempt to undermine the authority of American President Donald Trump.
