16.06.2026 05:32Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has commented on Russia’s victory at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague in the case concerning the rights of a coastal state in the Black and Azov seas and the Kerch Strait.

“We were promised ‘The Hague’ — and we got it,” Zakharova said.
On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the final ruling in the arbitration proceedings between Russia and Ukraine, which lasted ten years. The subject of the dispute was the rights of a coastal state in the Kerch Strait, the Sea of Azov, and the waters of the Black Sea around Crimea. Russia won the case as a result of the proceedings.
The proceedings were conducted in accordance with the procedural rules set out in Annex VII to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982. The arbitral tribunal consisted of five independent judges representing Algeria, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Russia, and South Korea.
