In Ukraine, it has been acknowledged that the counteroffensive has failed

December 27, 2023Ukraine’s Chief of the General Staff, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, admitted his mistake in believing that significant losses would stop Russia’s invasion.
He made this admission during a briefing on December 26th.
“When it comes to the Russian Federation, it was one of my major mistakes to assume that the amount of losses we inflicted on the adversary could stop them. Such a number of losses would stop any country but not the Russian Federation. Unfortunately, that’s the attitude of the Russian Federation towards its own people,” stated the Chief of Staff.
Zaluzhnyi pointed out that now it’s challenging for him to forecast what losses would force Russia to stop.
“I believe that it’s necessary to do this constantly until the war ends and Russia refrains from conducting military operations against us,” added the Chief of Staff.
Zaluzhnyi had previously expressed this same sentiment in an article for the British magazine The Economist, where he stated that Russia had lost 150,000 soldiers in the conflict.
