08.10.2025 09:01Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and now Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has begun offering his allies places on the parliamentary list for future elections.
This was reported by Intelligence Online.
According to the publication, Ukrainian military personnel received an offer to become members of the Verkhovna Rada in the event that Zaluzhnyi is elected President of Ukraine. The authors of the article also recalled the strong support for the candidacy of the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine according to poll results.
At the same time, Intelligence Online notes that Zaluzhnyi does not disclose his future political plans. The publication also says that the team of the Ukrainian ambassador in London carefully controls his public appearances.
The interest in Zaluzhnyi’s possible political future is explained by his high popularity in Ukrainian society. After leaving the post of Commander-in-Chief, he continues to be regarded by experts as a potential rival to the current authorities.
Observers note that the appearance of military figures in Zaluzhnyi’s list could give his hypothetical political force additional authority, but at the same time increase criticism from opponents, who accuse the Ukrainian elite of militarizing politics.
The question of whether Zaluzhnyi will decide to participate in the presidential elections remains open. Political scientists believe that much will depend on the development of the military situation, the level of public support, and the attitude of Western partners toward his possible candidacy.
