Ukraine’s former prime minister named the countries trying to derail the talks
23.02.2026 - 14:03Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he lived in a bunker for two years.
He made the statement in an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP).
“I lived in a bunker for two years,” he said.
According to the politician, he spent the nights there from the very first day of Russia’s “special military operation” (SMO) in Ukraine and left only to go to his office at the Presidential Office. Zelensky also said that now he no longer goes down to a bomb shelter even when air-raid alerts are issued.
On February 22, CNN reported that the Ukrainian president has survived around a dozen assassination attempts since the start of the conflict. According to a source cited by the channel, Russian agents allegedly rented apartments near the administration building in an attempt to physically eliminate the politician.
Zelensky’s term as president of Ukraine expired in May 2024. However, elections for a new leader were not held due to martial law declared in the country. In December last year, Zelensky said he was ready to hold a vote in Ukraine within 60–90 days, but only if the United States and Europe help provide security for it.
