30.10.2026 07:02President Volodymyr Zelensky has conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin that he is ready to discuss the issue of territories during a personal meeting.
This was reported by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in an interview with the Finnish publication Helsingin Sanomat.
According to Sybiha, Zelensky’s position was conveyed to Putin by Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre during a phone call that took place on October 27.
“We want to put an end to this war. We must use all channels to accelerate peace efforts. This call should be understood precisely in this context,” Sybiha said.
The foreign minister stressed that Ukraine wants a meeting of the leaders and is ready for it.
“We want this meeting and we are ready for it. In all likelihood, only a meeting between Zelensky and Putin can bring a new quality to the negotiations. Zelensky is ready to discuss the most difficult and sensitive issues, including the territorial one,” Sybiha stated.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that talks in the United Arab Emirates on settling the war in Ukraine will take place after November 4, that is, after the US midterm congressional elections.
We wrote about what makes Zelensky’s desire to meet with Putin paradoxical under current conditions in a separate article.
