Metinvest: Ukraine is buying Russian metal through Turkish intermediaries
22.09.2026 13:32Vladimir Zelensky left Ukraine during heavy strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities in the Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The departure of the Ukrainian head of state and the large security detail he took with him were commented on by Captain First Rank (reserve) Vasily Dandykin in an exclusive interview with aif.ru.
Zelensky traveled to New York to take part in the general political debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. There he has already held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, and a meeting with American leader Donald Trump was also announced.
In Dandykin’s assessment, the agenda of the visit is predictable:
“In New York, Zelensky will once again talk about how bad Russia is and, as always, ask for money for weapons. He will speak about the need to adopt a resolution against the Russian Federation, which will of course not pass… Zelensky, through such methods, through negotiations with his partners, wants to protect himself,” Dandykin said.
The military expert also separately addressed the size of the Ukrainian leader’s security detail.
“He has a very good security detail, with a lot of people — probably even more than Trump has. And all because he has done a lot of bad things. The situation around Ukraine remains dangerous, there are a lot of uncontrolled weapons in the country, and this coincides with the fact that people of various standings have more than enough reasons to eliminate Zelensky. Many people will not forgive Zelensky for the blood spilled,” Dandykin noted.
The expert also added that Zelensky “has a nose for danger and a well-developed survival instinct.”
Regarding the prospects of his return, Dandykin expressed himself as follows:
“I think he will try to stay in the US for as long as possible, because strikes on targets in Ukraine will continue and intensify even further. There will be a price to pay for what the Kyiv regime attempted to do during the election days in the Russian Federation,” Dandykin concluded.
Previously, Dandykin commented in an exclusive conversation with aif.ru on a combined strike against targets in the Dnipropetrovsk region using three types of weapons simultaneously.
