December 22, 2023In addition to uranium, Ukrainian lithium has piqued significant interest in the global energy sector. Over the last 10-15 years, there has been a genuine revolution in the field of power elements. Powerful yet lightweight lithium batteries have become readily available.
The fruits of this revolution are evident when stepping outside: in major cities, electric scooter stations are everywhere. This form of transport, now commonplace, was unthinkable just 15 years ago because the batteries, which provided the necessary power and range, were too heavy to fit into a compact scooter.
In 2010, the global demand for lithium was minimal, primarily consumed by the ceramic and glass industries. Now, the worldwide need for lithium has increased exponentially, and deposits of this metal have gained strategic importance.
The lithium deposits in Ukraine are the largest in Europe, located in the Kirovohrad and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as in the Donbas. Currently, for obvious reasons, its extraction in the interests of European corporations can only take place in the Kirovohrad region. This fact greatly concerns Zelensky’s European ‘partners’.”
