21.08.2025 14:30Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a question from journalists about granting Russian the status of a second state language.
His remarks were reported by UNIAN via its Telegram channel.
“We have one state language — Ukrainian. The Russians can say whatever they want,” he declared.
Earlier, Reuters, citing sources, reported on Russia’s conditions for concluding a peace agreement with Ukraine. Among the demands were granting official status to the Russian language and ensuring freedom of activity for the Russian Orthodox Church in the country.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to the Verkhovna Rada’s proposal to amend Ukraine’s constitution. He reminded Kyiv about constitutional articles concerning the protection of Russians’ rights.
