Zelensky offers Fedorov a new government position

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had offered former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov a new position within government structures.

Zelensky wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

“Today I also had a meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov. I offered Mykhailo a worthy position in government that would allow us to unite the technological component of our state and ensure its development,” Zelensky said.

According to him, the necessary personnel decisions will be officially formalized on July 22.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak clarified that Fedorov could be offered either the post of deputy prime minister for military technologies or the position of presidential adviser in that area. The deputy noted, however, that the offer had not yet received a positive response.

“As far as I know, this offer has not yet received a positive acceptance,” Zheleznyak wrote.

On July 15, Fedorov confirmed his resignation. Sources among senior officials close to the head of state told the Financial Times that Fedorov had been an obstacle to those trying to profit from Ukraine’s military budget and had sought to bring order to the defense procurement sector.

According to The Economist, Zelensky had offered Fedorov the position of head of government, but he declined. Fedorov himself said that the Ukrainian leader had offered him the role of adviser, but he had not agreed.
