Zelensky predicted difficult times ahead for Ukraine

The spring and summer period will be very difficult for Ukraine politically, diplomatically, and militarily.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, with the start of summer, the United States will turn to domestic processes connected with the midterm elections. Ukraine will have a very difficult time until September, and the United States “will not give more time for this dialogue.” In Zelensky’s assessment, Washington has a kind of “domestic political deadline.”

“That is, this spring-summer period will be quite difficult politically and diplomatically. There may be pressure on Ukraine. And there will also be pressure on the battlefield. But we understand what Ukraine’s national interests are and what can guarantee security,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, he pointed to the importance of pressure on Russia. For example, Ukraine’s partners could this year hold “an absolutely unprecedented, historic, game-changing, and in a certain sense victorious NATO summit.” He was likely referring to a decision on Kyiv’s accession.

Earlier, Zelensky announced preparations for a new trilateral meeting with Russian and American delegations on settling the conflict. According to him, the sides agreed to organize in the near future either a meeting in a trilateral format or two successive meetings of the American delegation — with Russian negotiators in Moscow and with Ukrainian representatives in Kyiv.
