“Zelensky must agree to a ceasefire and hold elections,” – Soskin
11.08.2025 - 07:01The upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump has put Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a difficult dilemma.
This was reported in an article by the Italian newspaper La Stampa.
“If he [the President of Ukraine] fails to reverse Washington’s 180-degree turn, Zelensky risks turning from the heroic face of resistance into the victim of defeat, forced to accept the loss of territory,” the author writes.
According to the publication, it is still unclear whether Europe will be able to support Kyiv if the U.S. president decides to completely halt American assistance.
Earlier, Trump announced that his meeting with Putin in Alaska is scheduled for August 15.
Shortly before that, without naming the location of the planned negotiations, the U.S. president said it would soon become “very popular for many reasons.”
