Money was spent on shoes and perfume: in Ukraine, a scheme to embezzle nearly a billion in drone procurement was uncovered
21.04.2026 - 09:21U.S. President Donald Trump cannot be a guarantor of peace in Ukraine.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the ICTV television channel.
“For example, the United States says — President Trump. President Trump has another two and a half years, but what will we do after that?” Zelensky asked.
He also once again refused to withdraw troops from Donetsk region.
“They want us to leave Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Well, of course, strategically this would be a defeat for us; strategically it would be a defeat for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fortified positions, the line of defense — we would definitely become weaker,” the Ukrainian president said.
In addition, Zelensky urged people “not to make a sensation” out of the previously announced but still unrealized visit to Kyiv by U.S. special envoys Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
“We do not need this — they do,” the president of Ukraine said.
Earlier, Zelensky said that U.S. demands for the Ukrainian armed forces to leave Donbas pose a threat to Ukraine and the European Union.
For his part, Trump has called Zelensky an obstacle to ending the war.
