Ukrainians prefer prison to mobilization – military ombudsman
18.12.2025 11:30Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he supports an online voting format in the next presidential election.
The head of state told journalists this while on a trip abroad.
According to him, at the moment only holding a presidential election is being considered, while local or parliamentary elections are not planned.
“The United States of America asked about a presidential election, and I said I would be ready for such an election. We did not consider elections to the Verkhovna Rada or local elections,” Zelensky said.
Asked about the possibility of voting online via the Diia app or other electronic methods for Ukrainians abroad, the president said he generally supports this format for all citizens of Ukraine.
“I have always supported this and raised the issue since the COVID era, so that people could vote online. So far, we have not found a consensus with members of parliament,” the president said.
The opposition is against the idea, saying that such voting cannot be properly monitored and could become a tool for massive election fraud.
