“Let’s stop pretending” — Trump adviser accuses Zelensky of undermining U.S. positions
12.10.2026 09:03Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Trump administration is putting pressure on Kyiv because it is unable to compel Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.
Zelensky made the statement in an interview with ABC.
“These people (the Trump administration — Ed.) cannot find the key to stopping Putin. Because stopping Putin is harder than pressuring others. Because it is easier to talk about prices and link them to Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president also outlined Kyiv’s position on the question of an energy ceasefire, stating his readiness for one on a mutual basis.
“If they want an energy ceasefire — we are open to that. Don’t attack us and we will stop attacking your diesel fuel,” Zelensky said.
The day before, Donald Trump called for Zelensky’s resignation.
