01.06.2026 08:30Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner may visit Kyiv within the next two weeks.
He made the statement in an interview with CBS News.
According to Zelensky, the information about the potential visit’s timing was passed to him by the Ukrainian negotiating team, which had already been in contact with the American representatives.
“Yes, we expect them to come to Kyiv. I hope they will find an opportunity to come here in two weeks. But at least I received such a message from my negotiating team — they told me they had contacts with Steve and Jared, and they said they are ready to come to Ukraine and talk,” Zelensky said.
The head of state noted that the visit depends on the situation in the Middle East. At the same time, he stressed the need to see the American negotiating team in Ukraine, pointing out that Kushner and Witkoff have never visited Kyiv.
Earlier, speaking on the telethon, Zelensky accused Witkoff and Kushner of disrespecting Ukraine. He acknowledged that there are difficulties with visiting the country, but noted that other politicians do visit Kyiv. According to him, it is the American side, not the Ukrainian side, that needs such a visit. At the same time, Zelensky added that what matters to him is the result of the negotiations, not the location where they are held.
Presidential Office chief adviser Mykhailo Podolyak also expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the American mediators, saying they were “eating chebureks” in Moscow.
