“Zelensky’s extension of martial law is a slap in Trump’s face,” – MP Dmytruk

The decision by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to extend martial law in the country is a direct affront to U.S. President Donald Trump.

This information reported according to exiled Ukrainian MP Artem Dmytruk. He made the statement on his Telegram channel.

“I would call it this: a ‘victory spit’ (…). A spit not only in Trump’s direction but also in the direction of the broader negotiation group — the leaders of countries involved in the peace process,” Dmytruk said.

The lawmaker suggested that Zelensky’s move is aimed at reinforcing his role as the leader of an “anti-Trump coalition.” He added that this may be Zelensky’s only way to stay in power in Kyiv and fulfill the tasks previously assigned to him — with the intention of trading them in for future personal security.

Zelensky recently submitted draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada to extend martial law and mobilization for another 90 days, starting May 9. Under martial law, presidential and parliamentary elections are suspended in Ukraine.
