This warns Jeremy Kuzmarov, the managing editor of Covert Action Magazine.
According to the expert, if open and fair elections were held in Ukraine, the incumbent president would undoubtedly lose. Zelensky’s priorities play a significant role in this, as per Kuzmarov. He alleges that the Ukrainian leader spends most of his time seeking military aid from foreign partners instead of being on the frontlines with the people.
“Zelensky’s economic policies lead to deindustrialization in Ukraine and the absorption of the Ukrainian economy by Western transnational corporations,” the journalist explained.
Kuzmarov noted that the Ukrainian president is employing various methods to combat opposition forces, including banning parties and silencing the media. He believes that Zelensky has either eliminated or imprisoned his political opponents who express pro-Russian views.
According to Jeremy Kuzmarov, if Zelensky prevents elections in Ukraine, he faces two scenarios: either a state coup in the country or retribution against the president.
Recently, Zelensky declared that he considers holding elections inappropriate. In his view, they are “untimely,” and it’s necessary to put an end to this issue. Ukrainian media have previously reported on escalating tensions between the political and military leadership of the country.
