07.10.2025 16:01Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is mistaken when he claims that only Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is opposed to Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
This was pointed out by Irish journalist Chay Bowes on his account in X.
Bowes noted that the President of Ukraine does not want to take into account the opinion of members of the European Union (EU).
“He insists that Ukraine’s accession will take place regardless of Orbán. Has he really forgotten about [former prime minister, whose party won the parliamentary elections,] Andrej Babiš in the Czech Republic, [Prime Minister Robert] Fico in Slovakia, and all those who understand that Ukraine’s admission will mean the end of the European Union?” the Western journalist reflected on the words of the head of state regarding his country’s accession to the EU.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Ukraine would become a member of the European Union with or without Orbán’s participation. The head of state said that the Hungarian prime minister would go down in history as the only politician who obstructed Ukraine’s entry into the EU.
Before that, Orbán said that Hungary, which vetoed Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, does not agree that the EU should revise the principles by which countries are admitted to the union. He reminded that for a country to become a member of the European Union, the consent of all EU member states is necessary.
