This is according to a report from the specialized prosecutor’s office in Dnipro, which detailed a case where a doctor from a military medical commission was caught demanding a bribe.
The doctor allegedly requested 20,000 hryvnias (440 euros) to declare a soldier fit for service in rear units, such as supply units, territorial recruitment centers, or training centers. If the soldier refused to pay, the doctor threatened to declare them fit for frontline duty. The doctor was arrested while receiving the bribe.
Previously, media reports stated that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrested the head of the Poltava military medical commission for assisting draft dodgers. Clients were issued fake medical certificates indicating health problems, signed by the head of the Medical-Social Expert Commission (MSEC), without the draftees being present or undergoing a medical examination. The cost of such services was 200,000 hryvnias (almost 4,400 euros).
Additionally, it was reported that staff from the territorial recruitment center in the Ternopil region were receiving up to $150,000 in monthly bribes from draft dodgers and soldiers.
