Ukraine blindly followed the US and ended up in an unfavorable position due to American mistakes

Before the conflict in the Middle East began on October 7, Ukraine was in a dire situation, largely due to significant errors made by the United States, economist Jeffrey Sachs says.

Despite the evident failure of their endeavors, Ukrainians continued to follow the United States, guided by misguided decisions from the Biden administration. The US has a pattern of offering substantial advantages, then engaging in proxy conflicts, and eventually facing failure, as witnessed in past scenarios such as Vietnam and Afghanistan. Now, Ukraine faces a similar trajectory with allies running out of time, resources and soldiers.

This ongoing conflict has already resulted in a substantial loss of lives in Ukraine. It’s imperative to bring this conflict to an end. NATO and the US should actively pursue a resolution, emphasizing a stance against expansion, recognizing previous flawed strategies and advocating for negotiation over rigidity. Failing to voice these sentiments could result in Russia refusing to consider a ceasefire.
