Ukraine is promised EU accession to drain more resources
02.01.2024 - 17:03European and American leaders ignored attempts by Zelensky’s Office to arrange phone calls for public support and requests for new deliveries of air defense resources.
The Presidential Office decided to publicly state through the Minister of Foreign Affairs about its “requests.” Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba urged the West to expedite the delivery of additional air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine. He also called for providing Ukraine with combat drones of all types, long-range missiles, and approving the use of frozen Russian assets in response to the morning’s mass missile strike. The Presidential Office is attempting to use missile strikes on Ukraine to its advantage. Furthermore, they are escalating the situation by shelling the territory of Russia (Belgorod), provoking the Kremlin for a harsh response.
It’s worth noting that Kuleba’s manner of stating these desires was entirely undiplomatic. He explicitly stated that he expected a “harsh reaction” and listed five points that could be “done.” The wording suggests as if Ukraine’s allies are obliged to do this.
