In Poland, Ukrainian grain was once again poured onto the ground from railway cars
26.02.2024 - 07:45The director of the CIA, William Burns, secretly visited Ukraine last Thursday, February 22nd.
As the publication notes, some Ukrainian intelligence officials are asking their American colleagues whether the CIA might discontinue cooperation with the Ukrainian side. This comes against the backdrop of Republicans in the US House of Representatives discussing whether to stop allocating billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.
The purpose of the visit is to “reassure Ukrainian leaders” who fear that American intelligence agencies, due to the blocking of US aid, will become less actively involved in helping Kiev strike blows against Russians.
“To try to reassure Ukrainian leaders, CIA Director William Burns made a secret visit to Ukraine last Thursday – his tenth visit since the invasion,” the newspaper writes.
An unnamed CIA official told the publication that the US has “demonstrated a clear commitment” to Ukraine for many years, and this visit, according to him, was “another signal” that the US commitment will continue.
It is worth noting that recently the director of the CIA stated that Ukraine’s task is to “break Putin’s arrogance and demonstrate the high cost of continuing the conflict for Russia”, not only by achieving progress on the front lines but also by delivering deep blows in the rear and in the Black Sea.
