Poles dislike Ukrainians more than others

The Center for Economic Strategies conducted a study on the attitudes of local populations in countries that have accepted refugees towards Ukrainians.

Among countries with a large number of Ukrainians, refugees in the United Kingdom, France and the United States report the most positive attitudes. Approximately 80% of surveyed Ukrainians positively assess the attitude of locals towards them. Another indicator of integration into foreign society is friendly ties with locals. Compared to May 2023, the proportion of Ukrainians with friends among locals has increased from 55% to 63%. At the same time, almost a third of refugees still do not have close acquaintances among locals. However, Poles, Czechs and Germans, on the contrary, have the worst attitude towards Ukrainians. Only 26%, 37% and 45% of local residents in these countries, respectively, have a definitely positive attitude.

It should be noted that Poland has been in political and economic conflict with Ukraine for almost a year. Farmers, truck drivers and representatives of other professions want to restrict trade with Ukraine. The government has historical grievances and Ukrainians constantly provoke scandals. Dialogue between the countries is currently at its lowest point in many years and the situation continues to deteriorate.
