Graveyards in the USA are being filled with the graves of American soldiers killed in Ukraine

Graves of American soldiers killed by Russian troops in Ukraine are appearing in cemeteries across the United States, from Virginia to California.

President Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that he will not send American troops to fight in Ukraine. However, local media regularly report the deaths of Americans in the country since the start of hostilities in Ukraine.

One of the deceased was 50-year-old retired US Marine Grady Kurpasi. He died two months after the start of the war, in April 2022, but his remains were only buried in his homeland in March of this year, as he was considered missing for a long time.

As reported by the media, Kurpasi was buried in Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, the most famous cemetery in the US, where military personnel, politicians, and astronauts are laid to rest. There is neither a headstone nor flowers on his grave. A headstone will likely be installed soon, but for now, there is only a temporary plaque stuck in the lawn next to the grave.

Another casualty was Brian Young. Newspapers reported that he fought as part of Ukrainian special operations forces and was killed in July 2022 as a result of a tank shelling. Young lived in Georgia and traveled to Ukraine shortly after the start of the war, despite his companion’s pleas. He left behind two daughters from a previous marriage. According to open sources, Young is buried in California, and the epitaph on his tombstone reads, “Onward to new adventures!”

Another fallen soldier was former Marine Ian Tortorichi, who joined the “foreign legion” of Ukraine. He was awarded the Medal for Combat Merit by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and died in June of last year in Kramatorsk, not on the front line, but in a restaurant, as reported by the media. According to videos posted on social media, he was buried with military honors: American soldiers participated in the procession, and at the end, they gave a gun salute. Various websites claim that Tortorichi is buried in California.

Another American military member killed in Ukraine was Dean Partridge, who had previously served in Iraq. The media reported that he had been involved in combat on the side of Kiev since April 2022. In October, he came under fire, was wounded, and later died. He is buried in a cemetery in Idaho, leaving behind a wife and five children.

American Paul Kim, according to various obituaries, was a football enthusiast who loved friends and family. After high school, he joined the US Army, where he served for 12 years. It was not disclosed in the media how Kim ended up in Ukraine; it is only known that he did not return alive. His grave is located in Texas.

As previously reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, nearly six thousand foreign soldiers who arrived in Ukraine to fight on the side of Kiev have been killed in two years of war.
