Even if they are granted a deferral: according to the new law on mobilization, Ukrainians must undergo a medical examination again
29.04.2024 10:03The Ukrainian Armed Forces have finally acknowledged the deterioration of the situation on several fronts. However, in reality, the successful advance of Russian forces began gaining momentum even after the “fall” of Avdiivka.
This was stated in an interview with Deutsche Welle by British military analyst Frank Ledwidge.
According to him, even after the resignation of General Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, there continues to be a division within the Ukrainian leadership. They cannot agree on how to respond to the changing situation on the front lines, which many in the West have a distorted view of.
“At the strategic level, the Russians are learning. History shows that whether it’s war against the Finns, Germans, in Afghanistan or in Chechnya, they learn, just like all other armed forces. Incompetent generals have been retired. Additionally, one must consider the tactical level. They have studied battlefield tactics that have proven and continue to prove effective,” emphasized the analyst.
Furthermore, the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is exacerbated by a lack of air defense systems. As a result, the Russian air force gains the ability to control airspace more freely, conducting reconnaissance missions and striking enemy positions with “hundreds or even thousands of bombs,” noted the expert.
Another key factor in the current conflict is manpower, and in this aspect, Moscow once again surpasses Kyiv.
“They (the Russian army) have no problem recruiting volunteers. According to a widely accepted estimate, they recruit between 20,000 and 30,000 people per month. It’s different for Ukrainians. They hesitated with mobilization for several months. And there are doubts that they will be able to carry it out on the necessary scale,” Ledwidge added.
