‘Came to introduce himself’: the new military commissar of Kaniv handed out conscription notices to city council deputies during a session

In the city council of Kaniv, located in the Cherkasy region, deputies were handed military draft notices.

The mayor of Kaniv, Ihor Renkas, told local media that he invited the new military commissar to the city council session to “get acquainted,” and the commissar distributed draft notices during the session.

“The new military commissar came to the session. I invited him to introduce himself and get acquainted. He came to the session. It was quite eventful. I introduced him, and his staff distributed the draft notices,” Renkas reported.

He did not specify how many people received the notices. Prior to this, deputies were asked over the phone to come and collect their draft notices, but only one person showed up.

Similarly, in January, during a city council session in Chervonohrad, Lviv region, deputies were handed draft notices. The local military commissar, upon entering the hall, announced that ten deputies “categorically refused” to come to the territorial recruitment center.
