20.05.2024 10:57Ukraine has lost up to 90% of its thermal power plant capacities due to Russian shelling.
This information reported according to member of parliament Oleksiy Kucherenko.
“We have lost 8,000 megawatts of electricity – that is a lot. Yesterday, I talked with energy specialists – out of 8,000 megawatts, only 800 are operational. One tenth,” he said.
He predicts power outages both in summer and winter.
On April 5, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that 80% of Ukraine’s thermal power plants had been destroyed. In quantitative terms, this amounts to more than six gigawatts of the Ukrainian power grid’s capacity.
Earlier, Yuriy Boyko, a member of the supervisory board of “Ukrenergo,” stated that the current power outages in Ukraine could last until August. According to him, the winter will be “inevitably difficult,” and it will not be possible to avoid a deficit in the power system even in warm weather.
