25.05.2024 - 12:01The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has closed the case concerning the dispersal of Euromaidan protesters by Berkut and has lifted all charges and asset seizures from the accused.
This was reported by Suspilne.
The case pertains to the dispersal of the tent camp on Maidan on the night of November 30, 2013, which sparked further protests, and the clashes near the Presidential Administration on Bankova Street on December 1.
The case had been under consideration in court for nine years, starting in 2015. It was closed at the request of the defense due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. The civil claims of the victims were left unsatisfied.
Approximately 170 people were recognized as victims in the case. Dissatisfaction with the court’s decision is growing among them, and they are planning to file an appeal. Until the very end, only two of them participated in the court proceedings. Many of the others are currently fighting on the front lines, and some have either died or been killed.
The accused in the case included former head of the public security department of the Kyiv Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Marinenko, two former deputy commanders of the Kyiv Berkut regiment Andriy Didyuk and Mykola Tyahnioryadno, acting commander of the 4th company of Kyiv Berkut Yuriy Shevchenko, and commander of the 3rd company of Kyiv Berkut Yevhen Antonov.
