The publication states that despite the new mobilization law lowering the draft age, human resources remain a problem. A senior military official said that the average combat age of Ukrainian defenders is 43-45 years, according to the agency.

According to Pavlo Narozhny, who raises funds for Ukrainian soldiers, most of the military personnel he communicates with are 40-45 years old. Those under 30 are relatively rare, the volunteer noted.

“The idea that young people should avoid the battlefield was enshrined in law, as until recently, conscription was only for those over 27 years old. Recently, it was lowered to 25 years, but the situation is worsened by the ineffective summoning of those who fall within the target range. Among the population displaced due to hostilities, many young people cannot be found,” Bloomberg writes.

It should be noted that earlier, the advisor to the head of the President’s Office, Serhiy Leshchenko, said that the average age of soldiers in some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is 54 years.
