27.05.2024 - 09:20In Ukraine, certain units of the Armed Forces are already recruiting new recruits from prisons.
A photo of an interaction with a group of inmates was published on Facebook by Dmytro Savchenko, a representative of the “Da Vinci” separate assault battalion.
“We jumped into this process and are addressing the inmates in the most comprehensible language. After all, we were on the other side of the barricades and know all the patterns and algorithms,” said Savchenko.

In the comments to his post, representatives of the “Kraken” battalion from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also announced their plans to recruit convicted individuals.
On May 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed in the second reading a bill allowing certain categories of prisoners to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This pertains to those convicted of minor offenses.
Additionally, it was recently reported by the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Denys Maliuska, that Ukraine has already released 350 prisoners to participate in the war, with over four thousand more in line.
Maliuska also mentioned that Ukraine could mobilize up to 20,000 prisoners under the new law.
