The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine has uncovered a large-scale system of torture of prisoners in several regions of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the SBI.
In particular, four employees of the “Bozhkivska Correctional Colony (No. 16)” in the Poltava region have been suspected.
According to the investigation, almost all prisoners were brutally beaten in this facility. There is an ongoing investigation into possible deaths resulting from this. Various torture methods, abuse and coercion were used.
“Newly arrived prisoners were threatened with being placed among the ‘rejected’ inmates and beaten until their will was broken and they were forced to obey any orders,” the SBI press service reports.
The beatings were recorded on video, which has now been included in the case files.
Additionally, the investigation is looking into the acquisition of numerous assets by the colony staff, for which they did not have official means.
